Seasonal distinct characteristic of Taimen fishing

 

 

 

The taimen fishing is officially opened from 15,Jun.

According to experience for fishing camp since 1998,we would shortly brief seasonal distinct characteristic of taimen fishing..

 

Spring Taimen

Spring : 15,Jun~end,Jun

Generally speaking, the spring time is one of the best time to meet number of taimen, unless sudden weather change especially for raining from upper river. The taimen has not been disturbed since freezing of river on previous year & it make them not only do not shy any fly, also very aggressive to feed after spawning.  The shallow water condition make you to easily access good spot with wading & casting without any limit & bring much more chance to grab taimens.

Meanwhile, always the sudden change of weather is one of the most risky. We, therefore, carefully monitoring weather forecast & river condition from our local staff, environmental inspector during taimen season accordingly.  

At any rate, spring season is always my favorite time to meet taimen who has oversleeping!!

 

Summer : 10,Jun~mid.Aug

Taimen is less active due to hot temp & water level. Also there is big risk of flooding.

 

Fall : Mid. Aug~mid.Oct

One of prestige period for fly fishing in mongolia. Taimen is getting aggressive with falling down of temperature to prepare long winter. Angler will enjoy chasing not only taimen is a little bit spreading compare to spring schooling also lenok,grayling is very aggressive. For lenok & Grayling I suggest you to leave all nymph fly box & just bring dry pattern like hopper.  Typical fall weather of mongolia show you very high blue sky with dry fresh air. Of course, the temperature in the evening is a little bit chilly in the late Sep.  Dropping down of water temperature rush taimen to migrate shortly where they can stay during winter period.

Also this time is very good time to meet big boy,1.4~1.6m.

Imagine yourself grab big beautiful bold tail taimen who stroked your big mouse.
